Can i sink an above ground pool
The actual pool steel IN ground was only 8 inches. It had been galvanized paint treated on install So, when I replaced the liner 20 years after installing this 20 yr old pool actually 42yr old pool according to the original manual …I inspected as I pulled everything!
I spread the walls after removing the top caps n retaining ring sections so it was out beyound the bottom ring, cleaned, relaid and releveled that bottom ring and not one bit of rust…. One top cap was rusted thru from chlorine and water I suspect. Pools today may be made cheaper, who knows, but if you treat the inground metal with something or just have airflow…they just may surprise you and provide decades of enjoyment.
Im about to do it again with a 15yr old 21ft round. Dan is suggesting 2. Hes right in his experience and I am in mine and I hope you enjoy your pool Julie. I CAN install an above ground pool inground, underground, in a tree or on the moon. Does it raise potential for collapse and subsequent personal or property damage? Warranty issues — yah right, if one is expecting warranty support good luck.
Almost no such thing these days. You sound like an HVAC installer explaining to the world that no one but a licensed professional should touch an HVAC system, similar to the plumber, roofer, appliance repair man, electrician, it never ends…. We have a doughboy pool that was designed to be sunk in the ground. We kept it one foot above so that it would be even with our house and deck.
We are on our 3rd year and no problems so far. Clay soil. It now has a leak and we need to change the liner. Frost line is about 42 inches with winter.
Should we wait until ground is solid? Any thoughts are appreciated!! A month later I noticed the 2 braces on one side lifting slightly inside the pool. No bowing of the walls, or anything and the water level looks and measures even.
Is this going to create an issue? The installers said it was normal and not to be worried about it. Thanks for your input. We also put in a hard bottom using the sand and portland mix. The installer told me not to and build a retaining wall cause would cause it to deteriorate and possible cause it to push up out of the ground.
Am I missing something? Is this something we could possibly do ourselves? Thank you! Wow great information! So if we dig the hole 18 feet in diameter and then backfill it after we have it filled with water.
You feel this is safe and is allowable? Can you sink an above ground pool the I am considering buying a steel sided pool And sinking it about half way. I am leaning towards building a retaining wall around it. I live in Iowa. Or needing to replace the liner if you drain? How does this work for cold climates?
I was reading where you recommend adding concrete to the dirt before backfilling. The dealer calls it a Mediterranean style — it was not the very top of the line, but very close. What is the deepest depth that we could bury that pool safely without having to worry about caving if we ever need to drain it? We have an above ground pool that was set into the ground. Here are a few things to note about above ground pool kits before you try to bury them.
The walls of an above ground pool typically consist of a thin aluminum wall that holds the pool liner. The pool wall ultimately gets its strength from the pressure of the water pushing equally outward on the wall. Typical above ground pool kit walls are not made to withstand the force of the ground pressing back in on the pool.
You need a much thicker pool wall to fully bury your pool. While the installation of your above ground pool will probably require some excavation to get a level surface to assemble your pool, that excavation process is not intended to sink your above ground pool completely into the dirt.
You will generally find above ground pool retailers willing to partially bury an above ground pool, but you can expect to leave at least half of the pool out of the ground. The photo to the left is an above ground pool buried about halfway in — and as far as we can bury it.
If you have a sloped yard, the installation process will be different. When our team builds an above ground or semi inground pool into a sloped yard it is a different process than digging a hole and sinking the entire pool in. If you think you may want to bury your backyard swimming pool without the high cost of a fully inground pool, a semi-inground pool may be for you. As the name suggests, semi-inground pools can be partially buried deeper than an above ground pool.
This is a pool compromised of many seperate panels with a 4" flange around all sides that bolts together to form a round, oval or grecian pool. These panels are heavy duty galvanized steel with a dark tan powder coating to reduce chance of rusting. When this pool is assembeled it is literally a tank. You cannot wiggle or shift this pool at all. Not only that but when installed in the ground the Ultimate Pool retains its warranty even if the pool is left empty.
This cannot be said for the Radiant style pools that require the pool to be completley filled at all time to maintain the warranty. SO dont' make the mistake of being cheap. Like everything in life you get waht you pay for and if something sounds too good to be true its likely because it isnt true. Do extensive research into your pool project, cross the t's and dot the i's. It pays off in the long run to do things right the first time.
They may cost a littel more but in the long run you wont be saddled with the issues you have just read about. Take a look at our above ground pool page or contact Pool Pros for a free in home consultation.
