Hicks' body was never really shown in full in Alien3, even the assembly cut, it was just shown briefly as a mangled mess in a cryotube, and then later just wrapped before being dropped into the furnace. Even "Newt" in Alien3 looked way older than she did in Aliens when Ripley cut her open That said though I don't really agree with them "bringing him back".
Needed way, way more explanation. This is what you get from people who do not care about the Alien Franchise. IF they had to bring somone back they could have brought back Hudson, you never see him die only taken by an Alien throught the floor, most likely to be Cocooned like the others. With all the fighting going on, he could have escaped and made it to safety, surviving like a hermit in some cave on the planet until the rescue ship arrived 17 weeks later.
The Script for ACM was awful and makes no sense, I hate how its mostly COD against Humans and that in so little time half the planet is turned into a research lab, you think that the ship they arrive in could scan and detect life both on the Sulaco and the planet.
Also, where did all these damn Xenos come from? Hicks' "replacement" was killed and disfigured in the crash, and his corpse was mistaken for Hicks. Sadly, Hicks arrived on Fiorina just in time to see Ripley sacrifice her life to prevent Michael Bishop and Weyland-Yutani from getting their hands on the Xenomorph queen growing inside her. Hicks and the Marines stand tall against Bishop's forces, but after Hicks shoots him, it's revealed that this Bishop is just another android double.
Hicks ends Aliens: Colonial Marines alive, but it's unclear what happened to him after the game. At one point, Hicks played by Biehn was actually going to return to the big screen in director Neil Blomkamp's Aliens sequel , but when the project was canceled, so was Hicks' planned resurrection.
Michael Kennedy is an avid movie and TV fan that's been working for Screen Rant in various capacities since I think in movies, television, and the gaming world, you get some people that are really, really passionate, and some people that are just going through the paces. They think that because they have a brand name they're going to get a hit game or hit movie out of it. That certainly was the situation on [Colonial Marines].
Whereas the other Marines seemed to dismiss Newt as nothing more than a child who got lucky and a burden they were forced to look after, Hicks treated her with kindness and maturity, helping to make her feel like part of the team and even giving her odd jobs to do while the survivors were fortifying Hadley's Hope.
During the time between his capture and rescue, Hicks seemed to have turned more cynical and cold, likely due to his prolonged torture at the hands of Weyland-Yutani and his knowledge of Ripley's death. After being rescued, he told the Marines from the USS Sephora that he now only cared about one thing — taking down Weyland-Yutani for good, both for what they had done on LV, and as revenge for their perceived role in the death of Ellen Ripley.
He had customized his armor vest with a heart design painted on the chest plate, to which he had attached a small padlock. The Corporal also carried an ME3 Hand Welder , which he would frequently use for fortifying barricades or cutting through obstacles. Alongside his issued gear, Hicks also carried some personal equipment, including a Tracer Bracelet and locator that eventually ended up with Newt.
He also notably carried an Ithaca Model 37 pump-action shotgun, an old family heirloom handed down to him from his father, [11] as a backup weapon holstered in a scabbard on his back. Hicks as played by James Remar.
However, Remar who suffered from a drug addiction at the time Aliens was being filmed was caught in possession of illegal substances and consequently fired from the production after just two weeks of shooting.
According to Biehn, he received a phone call on a Friday evening from producer Gale Anne Hurd asking simply if his passport was in order; the following Monday he was on set getting ready for filming.
He has also noted wryly that, had his passport not been up to date, he would have missed out on the role for which he is arguably most famous. Biehn was dismissive of the padlocked heart motif that he ended up with, stating it was effectively a giant bullseye directly over his chest. Following Aliens , the character of Hicks went on to appear in a series of Aliens comic book published by Dark Horse Comics from - that continued his story after the film, alongside Newt.
In these comics, Hicks and Newt travel to the Xenomorph home world in order to combat an infestation that has taken over the entire Earth , before again teaming up with Ripley to destroy the Aliens.
However, following the release of Alien 3 in , in which Hicks perished, the character's name in these stories was altered to David Wilks — this change first appeared in the novel Aliens: Earth Hive , an adaptation of the comic series Aliens: Outbreak , published several months after Alien 3.
Similarly, Newt became Billie , while Ellen Ripley became a synthetic version of herself. Subsequent reprints of the early comics also used these altered names, thereby keeping the stories congruous with the film franchise.
However, despite their new identities, the characters' back stories were not altered beyond the names of people and places , and so Hicks and Wilks both share remarkably similar experiences — both were the sole surviving Colonial Marine from a disastrous mission to an infested colony, both rescued a young girl from the planet, and both even share similar acid scarring to their faces. More recently, Dark Horse has begun reissuing the original, unedited versions of the early Aliens comics, thereby reinstating the character of Hicks in these stories and restoring the comic series as alternative sequels to Aliens.
