Why is daryl dixon so popular
While there have been some great actors to grace the television series, notably Jeffrey Dean Morgan , none of them are as good as Reedus is. He has a natural charm about him that instantly made him a fan favorite, even though Daryl was an original character. Even fans of the comic books couldn't help but like his addition.
While The Walking Dead had plenty of awesome characters , most of them took time to develop to that point. Daryl had no such issue, showing up as a tracker extraordinaire who wasn't afraid to put an arrow into a zombie or person's head. It instantly gave him a sense of gravitas among a group that was still growing used to the new world or struggling to keep it together as Shane was. For most of Season 1, there wasn't a single character that came close to his cool factor.
Leave it to Michael Rooker and Norman Reedus to manage to show the depths of both Merle and Daryl without breaking either of their mystiques. Both of them were strong characters who never willingly talked about their feelings, making the eventual heart-to-heart the two had feel more impactful.
The slow unraveling of their past was one of the most compelling stories in the earlier seasons of the series. It helped make both of them far more likable and explained why Daryl was always so distant.
One of the defining characteristics of Daryl's character in The Walking Dead was his desire to be more of a loner. He was a member of the group, but he was never truly part of it. His surly attitude always had him on the outside looking in, never getting too close to any of them. This was a hard loss for Daryl.
When he met Leah, he was very vulnerable and needed to feel something. So, was it love or convenience? Now, she is with a group that has hurt someone else dearer to Daryl than Leah, Maggie. Another question that is out there is, does Leah agree with everything Pope is doing?
Perhaps she is in over her head and wants out? But, that is another topic for another time. Do the writers have an ultimate reason for reusing this story template for Daryl? Is there an end game to this? Or, is Daryl just an easy character for this type of storyline since he is generally the one who is off on his own and easy to be taken up by another group?

Daryl has no precedent; therefore everything he does is unique to the television story, unpredictable to viewers and a blank slate for the writers. To boil his appeal down to its simplest level, Daryl is a badass.
He uses a crossbow. He drives a chopper. He wears a leather vest with wings on it and once made a necklace out of zombie ears. Then there's that voice that croaks out over the radio at episode's end and sure seems to be Glenn. If there's anybody who's decided it's high time to abandon the notion that all human lives have worth in a world so Darwinian, it's likely the guy who just got dragged into a feasting herd of zombies by someone he didn't think was up to the task of survival in the zombie apocalypse.
Yeah, if Glenn's alive, he's going to have some thoughts on this whole thing — and if anything might convince Daryl to follow a different path, it'll be someone he trusts making an argument he can't easily refute. First, a warning: This is the first time in quite a while when we've found ourselves in a place where comics fans will have quite a bit more knowledge than non-comics fans.
Please keep your comics spoilers out of the discussion or clearly mark them, so others can skip past! Second, please ask me anything you like about the show, pop culture, or surviving the zombie apocalypse. My question for you: Which TV character with a famous death scene would you most want to see resurrected and why? AMC If The Walking Dead has a breakout character — by which I mean a character who's become so popular with viewers that he rose up from a minor role to a much, much more important one — it's probably Daryl Dixon, played by the effortlessly charismatic Norman Reedus.
