Roseanne why did becky leave
Then seeing everybody, all the crew who were back and some of the writers and directors that were back. It reminded me that I had this big family. How was this time different from the last time? Well, the last time, I would say things on set were pretty tense. The climate on set these days has been so different. It makes it less intense in terms of the fame elements or the pressure. I feel like everyone can weather the sitcom storm more effectively now.
The first time I came back, I was hoping I would have some kind of resolve from when I left. But I guess I felt like I had already moved on from it. What did you think was unresolved from the first time you left?
I think rightly so, people were concerned about the show itself and missing such an integral character and energy, so it was all those things. This time was totally different. It felt like a clean slate, even with all the familiarity.
I just really felt loved and appreciated by everybody. Whatever happens with the Conners, they have each other, for better or for worse. You finally got to share a scene with Sarah Chalke, who played Becky when you were gone. What was it like acting together for the first time? It was really fun.

She was unanimously trounced by the media the next day, with even then-president George Bush denouncing her performance as "disrespectful.
Would the public remember the National Anthem debacle by the time the first show aired and boycott the series? In typical Roseanne fashion, she had her character poke fun at the situation, with Roseanne Conner announcing at the beginning of the season opener "It's such a beautiful morning today, it just makes me want to sing! Alicia "Lecy" Goranson was the first and original Becky Conner. She left the series at the end of the end of Season Four in order to attend Vassar College full-time.

Since Becky then lived out-of-state, Lecy was often shown speaking to her parents, Roseanne Conner played by Roseanne Barr and Dan Conner portrayed by John Goodman , on the phone and continued guest-starring on the show for several episodes.
By Season 6, the Roseanne producers wanted Becky to appear more frequently on the show, so they recast the role — and Sarah Chalke won the coveted part. I wanted to be around my peers. Sarah then portrayed Becky on Seasons 6 and 7.
